Flexible Freestyle for the Creative Spirit with Q from The Foldout Cat

Weave your heart! Add a new approach to your textiles toolbox as you learn to weave freestyle and free-spirited on your rigid-heddle loom. Experiment with color, texture, and technique, and take home a unique piece of woven art that reflects your creative spirit (yes, you do have one!). Students will learn the basic skills of freestyle weaving on simple, easy-to-use rigid-heddle looms. The class will emphasize individual exploration of color and texture in the service of personal expression; a few simple weaving techniques will be taught along the way.

Class Kit: consumables kit for the class will be available for purchase on the day of class. We are required by the state to pay sales tax on these items.

Items included in the kit

• Access to and use of a wide variety of different weaving materials, such as yarn in various fibers, colors, and textures, embroidery floss, fabric scraps, fiber, trim, beads, wire, Mylar, etc.
• Each student will also get a bag of fibery treasures to keep; these can be used in class, in a future weaving project, or both. 

Personal Supplies:

• Note that each student must bring a rigid-heddle loom of their preferred width *that they know how to use, warped in advance* with at least two yards of a strong, neutral-colored yarn/thread/cord that will stand up to use under tension, along with one to three stick or boat shuttles suitable for use with their loom.
•  [Note for the Rogue Skein: Q can provide up to four warped rigid-heddle looms for an additional fee. If any students want to take advantage of this option, they need to let the Rogue Skein know (or let Q know directly – whichever the Rogue Skein would prefer) no later than 1 November, to give Q time to get the looms warped.]

The supplies will be available in store. Students receive a 10% discount on the day of class. Consignment items and class kits are not available for a discount.
