Simplifying Oil Painting with Liz Painter

Description

The purpose of this class is to learn and apply fundamental principles of
oil painting, such as color theory and mixing, composition, and brushwork, on a still life subject. The focus of the class will be on the alla prima method that is used in outdoor plein air art, as well as techniques that I've learned through experience that made it
easier to quickly paint a subject and complete a painting within 1-2 days.

Skills can learn
- basic color theory and mixing
- simplification and unification of color palette
- identifying direction of light/ shadow and incorporating into painting
- layered painting technique
- simplifying composition

Personal Supplies: You need the following items for the class

- 1 x ¾” flat brush
- 1 x #10 flat brush
- 1 x ½” oval mop
- 1 x 3/8” angular shader
- 1 x color palette
- 1 x palette knife
- 8 x 10 canvas/ canvas panel

Paints:

- Ultramarine blue
- Titanium white
- Burnt umber
- yellow medium
- scarlet
- plant green/ sap green
- gamsol mineral spirits
- easel

The supplies will be available in store. Students receive a 10% discount on the day of class. Consignment items and class kits are not available for a discount.

Max class size 5 and 3  to make the class
